This honeybee ventured out on 10 March this year, probably from a colony in the village and discovered our Viburnum tinus ‘Gwenllian’. There’s not much outside of gardens for bees to forage on until the rapeseed comes into flower, then they can swarm with all the excitement of so much nectar and pollen.
Looking for early pollinators, I found that they also like hellebores but you have to kneel down and peer up to see what’s going on in their lovely bracts that droop so modestly and last until at least early spring.
