We’ve heard plenty lately of plants doing odd things due to changes in weather patterns but this takes some beating.
The delphiniums in our garden are actually better than they were during the traditional flowering period of early summer. Granted they should be cut back for their first flowering to get a second flush which will be August-September, according to Monty Don and Sarah Raven. Funny how well-known garden writers echo each other rather than their own personal experiences.
As we are now well into November I would be expecting to cut back and mulch my delphiniums but not this year. We’ve also had frost but not ground frost which would probably do for them. In the meantime, I shall enjoy this little reminder of summer.
